North Dakota Horse of the Year

We accept nominations for the ND Horse of the Year.  To nominate your equine partner, we ask that you complete a form and include an action picture of you and your horse. Due May 15, 2025.

We use the Rubric Scoring System! The nominations will be reviewed and scored by the State Secretary, Marketing Director, a Board Member and three Student Officers or Event Directors.

More about the scoring system:

• Each question will be scored on a scale from 1 - 5.
• One of the six judges scores will be withheld to break ties.
• Scoring will be done before State Finals to allow the judges time for review and avoid rushing through the submissions.
• One Cowboy and Cowgirl’s equine athlete will be announced at the State Finals.
